Club Sponsored Fishing Trips

The Club offers a variety of monthly salt water fishing charters on the East and West coasts of Florida. Depending on the trip and conditions this can include trolling, bottom fishing in deep water, surf fishing and casting on the flats of the Gulf and in the Atlantic Intercoastal waters. These trips are designated for club members only. Guests are allowed with a current member.

Fishing trip availability:
Each trip has a club member who coordinates with the Captains to provide information, availability and booking. The trip coordinators will be available at every club meeting. Trip availability will be posted on the website. For the most up to date trip information call or email the coordinator directly.

Payment for trips:
All trips must be paid for in advance by check or cash (no credit cards). You can book and pay for trips with the trip coordinator at the monthly meeting. Checks will not be cashed until the trip occurs. If you contact the coordinator directly, you can send checks with your name, trip Captain and date of trip to:
The Villages DSFC
c/o Steve Newman
PO Box 277
Oxford, FL 34484
Make payment to: DSFC

Cancellation of trips:
If a fishing trip is cancelled by the Captain, members will be notified by its coordinator. You will have a choice of getting your money back or you can apply it toward a future fishing trip, if there is an opening. If you cannot make a trip that you have signed up for, and don't get a replacement to go on that trip, you forfeit your money. Anytime you have scheduled a trip with the club and decide later that you cannot go, notify the coordinator for that Captain ASAP.

What to bring and NOT bring on trips

Seasickness remedies if you’re prone (patches, gum, pills)
Sunscreen, sunglasses (polarized if possible), hat with brim
Light waterproof jacket or windbreaker — even if the forecast is good.
Gloves (optional but helpful) — for handling fish, gear, cold.
Small Waterproof bag or dry sack for storing electronics, phone, wallet in case of spray or sea conditions.
Camera or good phone for photos
Reusable water bottle & healthy snacks (even if meals are provided)
Bring your own fishing gear if desired
Personal medication/prescriptions + small first-aid kit (band-aids, antiseptic wipes, etc.).A light daypack or tote bag (for gear you’ll use).

Tipping:
Tipping the Captain and crew is important as often times these tips are the main source of compensation for the crew. Suggested tip amount is 20% of the cost of the trip to be paid at the conclusion of the trip. Fish cleaning and bagging is usually included on the may or may not be included. If not, you will be given a price for this service.

Transportation for the Trips:
Car pooling is the main transportation means to get to the trip. The trip coordinator or someone who has booked the trip will contact you with details - where to meet and at what time. If you do car pool, don't forget to compensate the driver.

Trip Coupons:
The Club holds a 100% drawing at each meeting. For every $50.00 collected, the Club gives a trip coupon worth $50.00 on any trip scheduled through the club. The coupons have an expiration date of 6 (six) months so please be sure to use them within that time frame, there are no extensions of expiration dates on those coupons!
It is a Club policy that you may only win once at each meeting or picnic.

Inviting Non Members on The Clubs fishing Trips:
Only members in good standing can invite guests to fish with them. ONLY MEMBERS WHO'S DUES ARE CURRENT (IN GOOD STANDING) ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN CLUB ACTIVITIES INCLUDING FISHING TRIPS, AND COUPON DRAWINGS.
